Thursday morning notes by your WRM Race Director

Early morning start; this is not a sprint. It IS a marathon. And I am down to that last blasted 6 miles. The true test of tenacity.

The last few days have been busy, no doubt. Up at 4:00 am, and plan to be for the next few days. This Race Director gig makes the literal turn figurative, and vice versa.

Yesterday we got the shirts for participants and volunteers alike - two truckloads! They look amazing, and thanks to Action Graphics we have them in plenty of time. Also we have some nice merchandise for all of you to purchase as souvenirs if you wish.

We drove the course yesterday & did some preliminary marking. It is in great shape. The full marathoners will enjoy gorgeous views and a run through the pines. It made me wish I was running too! ;-)

What else? Forestry Permit has been signed off on and we have our dedicated Course drivers & set-up team in place. They are the ones the runners really need to thank! It is an amazing job that they do; very detail oriented, tedious at times, and not for the faint of heart. They begin their day on Saturday meeting at 3:00 am.

I would also like to point out that Bryan H. at A-1 Water in Prescott is a HUGE lifesaver. He also shows up at 3:00 am with his water truck and fills up all of the barrels at the water stations. What would we do without Bryan? I don't know.

Our hard working Volunteer WRM Committee has also been working side by side with myself and Craig Malone, our Asssistant Race Director for nine months now "giving brith" to this event. It is not easy, and they have put in a lot of time and lended a lot of support and expertise.

We had our first (ever!) Volunteer Training Meeting this week at the Y. Although turnout was slim, it was fantastic to meet some of our dedicated volunteers and hear their stories. They are ready to help you have a wonderful race experience too!

If you are a local, please support the businesses that support the event (visit our webpage Sponsors tab) - and stay tuned to the Prescott Daily Courier. We should have four days of WRM coverage this year! Great!

See you all tomorrow at the Expo & Packet Pick-up!

Jessica
